Keith and Catherine Murphy are proud to be launching there Chica Chick two-in-one designer handbag on October 5th, after working on the idea ever since Keith had a Kidney Transplant back in January this year. After recuperating in St Georges Hospital London, whilst reading an article about STIs, It got him thinking, that if he could come up with a fashionable and practical product that would appeal to young women, he might be able to help encourage safe sex and prevent STIs.
His wife Cathy teased him that he must have received a women's kidney, as he woke up after the operation thinking of handbags...turns out he did.!!
Cathy has experience in the fashion trade and she took this idea and converted it into a design for the Chica Chick bag. We wanted it to be an ethical product, so we sourced a supply chain with a properly audited manufacturer and only use a faux leather material that is biodegradable in 10 years. We think it shows that fashion doesn’t just have to be about looking good, it can tackle important social issues too.”
